De La Hoya Makes Stripper famous Over NAUGHTY Photos Monday, September 24, 2007

The woman who says she took photos of boxer Oscar De La Hoya in women’s lingerie is changing her story.

Just days after she claimed the pictures were “not Photoshopped,”  Milana Dravnel now says, “I cannot personally verify the authenticity of the images.”

The gorgeous 22-year-old Russian immigrant would also not rule out that De La Hoya attended tequila-fueled revels where, according to sources, the Golden Boy dressed up in fishnets, stilettos, panties and a wig. Sources have also said he took part in role-playing — sometimes using the name “Goldie” and pretending to be a squealing girl riding on the back of a motorcycle. During one so-called “slumber party,” a source told us, Dravnel and other girls shaved his legs.

“Mr. De La Hoya and I had a platonic relationship,” the former Scores dancer said.

Last week, Dravnel taped an interview for “Entertainment Tonight,” due to air this evening, in which she denies that the mortifying pictures had been altered. “I only agreed to do a television interview … after I received numerous threats from people who were in control of the images,” she said. “Many quotes that were attributed to me in the media are false and inaccurate, as were some statements I made on ‘Entertainment Tonight.’

‘This is a case of, If At First You Lie, You Must Then Deny’. It’s the only real way anyone gets their own reality show these days, it’s common knowledge.

Kayne West Makes a Dollar Out of 50 Cent Sunday, September 23, 2007

 The two rappers spent much of the summer jousting about who would win the first-week-sales battle.

While Mr. West generally avoided triumphant predictions, 50 Cent wasn’t shy about reminding listeners that he was the odds-on favorite.

Now the numbers are in, and it’s not even close. According to Nielsen SoundScan “Graduation” sold 957,000 copies in its first week, while “Curtis” sold only 691,000 copies. It’s the best opening of Mr. West’s career. And it’s the worst opening of 50 Cent’s career.

This is a great day for Universal, the record company that distributes both albums- although you might feel sorry for the Universal executives who have to field 50 Cent’s angry phone calls.

Prescription:  In every “Win-Win” situation there is always a loser somewhere. Yes, there were tons of TV appearances and radio interviews- KUDOS to the PR department at Universal–Whoop Whoop! But, the real PR strategy here was not to let two ego maniac rappers direct their public relations campaign. It was to let two ego maniac rappers THINK they were directing their own PR campaign. The result: a PR stunt many say will go down in history, Universal sells a $hit load of records, Kanye West seems a little friendlier and 50 Cent feels a little short changed.

Why I want to be Osama Bin Laden’s Publicist..an editorial Thursday, September 20, 2007

         

Just before the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Osama bin Laden released a new videotape, in which he adopts a neo-Marxist posture, suggesting that mortgage debt, global warming, growing wage inequality and other ills are a result of greed from multinational corporations and politics of the West.

Osama released a new message today calling for attacks.

The hype surrounding the release of Osama’s new tape got me to thinking– if Osama was a rap star, or a big movie actor like Tom Cruise, I would probably be the richest publicist on the planet. So rich I could buy up all the world’s oil and sell it in cute little bottles at the 99cent store.

He seems like he would be a typical client… always wanting the world to hear what he’s got to say. And, he would always be coming up with some new idea or theory for me to publicize.  Just like most celebrity clients, he would be somewhat hard to get on the phone.

It wouldn’t matter if people liked me or not because I would be holding the key to the voice of the most notorious person on the planet. Imagine it.  This guy releases a new tape almost every year and if it was available on iTunes, it would make a killing (not literally). He changes the color of his beard and people pay attention. Osama is, in fact, the new Britney Spears.

And just like Britney, at some point people will no longer pay attention to what he has to say and who knows, one day an Osama tape just might flop. But none of that will happen until Osama walks the red carpet in a hideous outfit. But then, that would be new, news right?

 

Why DAN would RATHER the money from CBS Thursday, September 20, 2007

                  

A $70 million lawsuit filed by Dan Rather alleges CBS and its former parent company intentionally botched the aftermath of a discredited story about President Bush’s military service to curry favor with the administration. 

The lawsuit claims Rather was made a “scapegoat” to placate the Bush administration after questions arose about the story, which concerned President Bush’s military service during the Vietnam War.

The 75-year-old Rather, whose final months at CBS were clouded by controversy over the story, said the defendants’ actions damaged his reputation and cost him significantly. He was removed from his “CBS Evening News” post in March 2005.

In his lawsuit, Rather maintains the story was true but says if any aspect of the broadcast was not accurate, he was not responsible for the errors. By forcing Rather to apologize publicly, “CBS intentionally caused the public and the media to attribute CBS’ alleged bungling of the episode to Mr. Rather,” the lawsuit claimed.

Prescription: This is called a “spank, switch & ditch”. It happens when two parties like Dan Rather and CBS have a long standing relationship and then some drama arises. CBS basically asked Dan Rather to take the “spanking” from the media by apologizing in regards to the careless newscast. Dan, believing in his own credibility and the power of CBS that this would eventually go away, agreed. But, when the kitchen got HOT, CBS wanted out, switched their position on the whole thing and ditched Rather. Now, when people think of the controversy they will think of Dan Rather more so than the brand of CBS. Smart on CBS’s part right? Only hope for Dan Rather at this point is handing out the free newspaper at the train station.Note: There is always a bottom up after a spanking and it sure can hurt!

How O.J Simpson will be #1 in America Again Tuesday, August 28, 2007

    

Pre-orders for the O.J. Simpson book If I Did It on the Barnes & Noble Web site are higher than the chain expected, but its decision not to carry the book in its stores still stands.

“We still have no plans to stock it in our stores,” spokeswoman Mary Ellen Keating told The Associated Press.

Last week, Barnes & Noble said it did not expect the book to sell well and would only offer it through their Web site, Barnes & Noble.com, or by special order at a Barnes & Noble store. Since then, the book has jumped into the top 50 on the Web site and ranked No. 48 as of Sunday night.

Interest in the book has been fueled by last week’s announcement that Oprah Winfrey would feature Denise Brown, Nicole Brown Simpson’s sister; and Goldman’s parents, Fred and Kim Goldman on a show scheduled to air Sept. 13.

After public outrage led HarperCollins to cancel the release, a federal bankruptcy judge eventually awarded the book rights to Goldman’s family to help satisfy a $38 million wrongful death judgment against Simpson.

Prescription: In holding back on a highly visible marketing push and standing firmly that the book would not be offered in stores, Barnes & Noble seems to come off as neutral, socially responsible and a possible avenue for monetary justice for the Brown and Goldman families. No one is mad at Barnes and Noble right now because frankly, sometimes drama can sell itself.

Why Lindsay Lohan LOVES her Publicist! Sunday, August 26, 2007

What looks to be a great strategy from Lindsay Lohan’s publicist, Leslie Sloane, photographers who used to catch her clubbing were invited to snap away at her NEW pursuits: Reading, writing in a journal, working at a nearby supermarket, and caring for horses as part of her “equine therapy,” according to OK! magazine. It seems as though the starlet staged a campaign for an easy sentencing in the days leading up to her scheduled Aug. 24 arraignment.

On the same day that prosecutors filed seven misdemeanor drunken driving and cocaine possession charges against her, the 21-year old actress reached a plea deal that calls for her to spend one day in jail, serve 10 days of community service and complete a drug-treatment program. Moments after her plea deal was announced, Lohan released a statement to the media through her publicist in which she confirmed her substance abuse.

According to Lawrence Taylor, a Los Angeles lawyer who deals exclusively with DUI cases, Lohan’s punishment could have been far more severe — anywhere from 96 hours to 12 months in jail.

“She got off fairly easily,”Taylor said. “Ten days community service counts as 10 days jail, plus the one day she’s doing which she probably has credit for having spent those few hours in jail after the arrest.”

The NEW Britney Spears photo you want to see Sunday, August 26, 2007

If the headline to this blog and the photo above look and feel like a set up you are wrong, it’s called Buzzzzz.

Looks more like we are being set up for Britney’s big comeback song about her “baby boy” deserting her.

The track - which has been leaked on the internet - features the 25-year-old divorced mother-of-two singing a ballad over a slow beat to the sound of toy chimes.  A source said, “This is obviously just a demo and not a finished or official release in any way. It is a shame someone would leak unfinished, unmastered and incomplete work.”

We’ll just have to see if Britney can do it one more time.

John Singleton Accident Kills Jaywalker, New Movie Safe Saturday, August 25, 2007

Oscar-nominated director John Singleton was driving a Lexus SUV when it struck and killed a jaywalker who stepped in front of the car, police said Friday. Singleton, 39, immediately stopped his car and waited for police to arrive after the accident Thursday night in the city’s Jefferson Park neighborhood, said Officer Jason Lee, a police spokesman.

“Mr. Singleton stopped and identified himself as required by law and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” Lee said. “He was questioned and released.”

The woman was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead Friday morning, Lee said. She was identified as Constance Russell, 57, of Los Angeles.

Other details were not immediately released, and an after-hours call to Singleton’s agent was not immediately returned.

Singleton, whose debut film, 1991’s “Boyz N The Hood,” earned him two Oscar nominations, has also directed “Poetic Justice,” “Shaft,” and “2 Fast 2 Furious.” He was the producer of “Hustle & Flow,” “Black Snake Moan” and the just-released “Illegal Tender.”

Prescription: The best thing to do when tragedy strikes is to be honest and follow the rules. Kudos to Singleton for doing the right thing and taking responsibility. Since this happened over the weekend, I’m sure we will be getting a formal statement any minute expressing remorse from his publicist. It’s NEVER good when a life is lost but this fatal accident and Singleton’s remorseful actions may garner new fans and drive ticket sales.

Battle of the Black Blogs: Mediatakeout.com vs. Bossip.com Saturday, August 25, 2007

        

According to Wikipedia, a PUBLICITY STUNT is a planned event designed to attract the public’s attention to the promoters or their causes. PR stunts are great ways to drive sales, increase viewers or… attract advertisers.

In today’s webisode of I Love My Publicist we look at what seems to be a fairly new online magazine called Expozure.com that posted an “exclusive in-depth interview” with Fred (no last name given in the story), founder and creator of Mediatakeout.com.

In the article, Fred gives up some big numbers about his site and really expo(z)es how he feels about his competitor Bossip.com.

“They aint got nothing on us. They cant mess with us! Man we have 80 million page views in a month. When you start talking 80 million page views, that’s not black blog numbers, that’s New York times, USA Today, that’s not black blogs numbers. Not even the white blogs can mess with us.”

The interview with Fred gives insight as to how MediaTakeOut.com gets it’s exclusive content and closes with some very interesting reader comments. The comments are angry and suggest that the person conducting the interview isn’t even a journalist and that the story is riddled with typehoes. I mean typos. It also suggests that MediaTakeOut.com lies about their juicy scoops setting up Bossip.com for an inevitable rebuttal.

Now USUALLY, when publicists allow their clients to be interviewed “exclusively” they pick the media outlet with the highest circulation and biggest demographic that suits their client. According to the comments, Expozure.com doesn’t seem to have been around too long.

Is this all just gossip or an attempt to take somebody out?
